How to Use Funnels in HighLevel to Add Customers to a Circle Community

In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to add members to your Circle community [Affiliate link] after they purchase through a funnel inside HighLevel [Affiliate Link, I’m compensated and you get bonuses]. This process is ideal for giving access to courses, events, or any spaces within your Circle community. Let’s get started!

Note: If you’re looking for a tutorial on how to go the other direction, I created a tutorial showing how to use Circle Paywalls to add members to HighLevel.

Step-by-Step Video Walkthrough

This entire tutorial is available in video format for your convenience.

Step 1: Create a Funnel in HighLevel

  1. Access HighLevel: Log in to your HighLevel account and go to the sub-account you want to use.
  2. Navigate to Funnels: On the left-hand side, click on Sites, then go to Funnels at the top.
  3. Create a New Funnel: Click Create New Funnel and give your funnel a name, such as “Access to Circle”. You can name it based on what the funnel will accomplish (e.g., adding members to a course).

Step 2: Set Up the Funnel Steps

  1. Add a New Step: Name this step Checkout Page and click Create Funnel.
  2. Build your Checkout Page: Choose a template for your funnel step if you have one that exists (members of Convology All-Access Pass get access to beautiful templates ready to use with the click of a button!).
  3. Add a Product: Go to Products and add a product to this checkout step. Choose a product you’ve already set up, such as a course or membership that gives the customer access to your Circle community space(s), and save it.
  4. Optional Funnel: Create a more elaborate funnel with a sales page linking to your checkout page.

Step 3: Customize the Checkout Page

  1. Edit the Checkout Page: In the funnel overview, use the dropdown to edit your checkout page in a new tab.
  2. Customize the Form: Use the page builder to customize the checkout form. For example:
    • Hide Phone Number: If you don’t need the phone number, toggle it off under the advanced settings.
    • Add Terms and Conditions: Toggle on the terms and conditions option, add a link to your terms, and customize the text as needed.
  3. Set Post-Purchase Action: Under the general settings, choose what happens after the sale goes through. Typically, redirecting to a confirmation page provides the best user experience.

Step 4: Create a Confirmation Page

  1. Add a Confirmation Step: Add another step to your funnel for the confirmation page.
  2. Customize the Confirmation Page: Use the page builder to add a call to action, such as “Thanks for your order” and a button that directs customers to your community.

Step 5: Set Up Automation in HighLevel

  1. Access Automations: In HighLevel, go to the automation section and create a new workflow from scratch. Name it something like “Access to Circle for XYZ”.
  2. Set Up the Trigger:
    • Trigger: Set the trigger to Order Submitted.
    • Filter: Add a filter to specify the product purchased. For example, select the product “Widget A”.

Step 6: Use Zapier to Add Customers to Circle

  1. Create a Zap: In Zapier, create a new Zap and set the event to Webhook by Zapier.
    • Trigger Event: Choose Catch Hook and click Continue. Copy the webhook URL.
  2. Add Webhook to HighLevel:
    • In your HighLevel workflow, add an action to Post a Webhook and paste the Zapier webhook URL.
  3. Test the Workflow: Trigger the workflow in HighLevel to ensure data is sent to Zapier.

Why Zapier?

Circle has a fantastic integration with Zapier that works on their Pro plan. Their API, which allows other tools like SureTriggers to work in a similar way, is available on their Business plan. If you have the Business Plan, you can consider using a tool other than Zapier.

Step 7: Invite Members to Circle

  1. Set Up Zapier Action:
    • Choose App & Event: Select Circle and set the event to Invite Member.
    • Map Data: Map the data received from HighLevel to the corresponding fields in Circle, such as full name and email.
    • Set Community and Access: Choose the community and spaces/groups to grant access. Add any relevant tags.
  2. Customize Invitation Email: In Circle, go to Members > Onboarding and customize the invitation email that new members will receive. You may wish to disable this email and use a separate email step inside of your HighLevel Workflow instead.

Step 8: Finalize and Publish Workflow

  1. Add Additional Actions: You can add further actions such as sending follow-up emails, adding tags, or integrating with other tools.
  2. Save and Publish: Save and publish your HighLevel workflow.

Conclusion

By following these steps, you can seamlessly integrate HighLevel funnels with Circle, allowing you to automate the process of adding new members to your community after they make a purchase. This setup ensures a smooth onboarding experience and leverages the powerful features of both HighLevel and Circle.
